About Us

Hi, my name is Lucia and I have been a teacher for 34 years. My background is in high school Math and Science and then progressed into primary teaching. I have taught Italian and also held a position as an IT Coordinator at two schools.

I have 2 beautiful sons who needed a lot of support through school and I gradually started helping them at home. This grew into a passion of mine, especially since I could see first hand the confidence it fostered in them.

In 2014 I made a bold move to give up teaching and tutor full time and this is how Tutopia Tutoring was born. I started with a centre at Walkerville and have since evolved to where we are now at Hampstead Gardens.

For me tutoring is very personal, my philosophy is that learning should be relevant to students’ needs and also a positive experience. My eldest is now enjoying baking desserts as his passion and my youngest is working towards being a journalist….I should say Sports journalist!!

One hour a week is not a long time but if we target and are very specific with the students’ learning needs we can use the time effectively and improve learning outcomes for our students. My tutors and I are essentially a team, much like a Coach and Mentor.

We offer support on a 1:1 basis, 1:2 student or math classes as well as offering tutoring at the centre, at your home or via Zoom, which is particularly popular with our high school students.

Our tutors are a mix of teachers, university graduates in a teaching degree or other math/science related degrees. Feel free to meet them and find out more about their passion here.
